One of the conference’s key elements was the "Berlin Charter". This document will serve as important political impetus and guidance for decision-makers from the world of politics, business and civil society, with a view to boosting their involvement in efforts to foster rural development and youth employment. The document was drafted in the run-up to the conference by an international advisory committee that consulted widely with non-governmental groups and youth representatives from Africa and G20 countries. During the conference the Charter was discussed and amended with the participants before being officially presented to Federal Minister Dr Gerd Müller.
